modern medicine!! Useful isn't it!?

Just to let you know Randy had a way better day today than yesterday.  They got the results back on the blood work and Randy has septus again.  It is a strep infection that you can pick up from being in hospitals.  They said his lungs still look clear.  They started him on antibiotics last night and they are working well.  He is so much better today than yesterday.  He actually looks calm instead of struggling.  They even had to  put him on the ventalator again.  He was still on it today when I went in.  His color is better.  He opened his eyes just a little, maybe 10 seconds.  He wasn't running a fever.  They took out his Dialisis port where they did the Plasma Phresis and his IV pick line and started a new one.
It is good to know he is still in there and responds ever so slightly occasionally during the day.
Some of the kids went and visited him and they took this crazy picture.  This is how they have fun with their Dad now.

  1. Marie- I'm glad to hear that Randy had a better day. I have been looking at your blog everyday to see how things are going. I'm so sorry that Randy has been so sick and you and your family are going through this rough patch in life. I continue to pray for him and your family. My kids will even pray for "mom's friend's dad" :)! We will continue to pray for him and all of you!

    1. Thanks Sharlynn, good friends never go away, you just don't interact with them every day. I was sorry to hear of your Dads passing. My prayers are with you and your mom.

  3. Mrs. Loveless and family:

Knowing of Randy's and your present circumstances, I have a strong feeling of wanting to send my support and encouragement. Don't spend much time trying to figure out who I am. We've never met.

I've known Randy for a number of years, but only in passing, and mostly by his sterling reputation in the community. I've enjoyed receiving his real estate flyers, not so much because of the listings, but more because they reminded me of a pleasant, tenacious person who understood the power of ongoing, gentle contact with those around him.

About three months ago, Randy and I became much better acquainted in the process of our attempt to put together a mutually-beneficial real estate transaction. In every face-to-face, phone or e-mail contact, I found him to be thoroughly cheerful, and reliably a man of his word. I found Randy's integrity to be intact in every way. I can pay no higher compliment than to say he is both pleasant and honest.

I am so sorry that you and he are having to deal with Randy's current health crisis. What an absolute bummer! But Bishop Loveless, I'm quite sure, would counsel us all with a reminder that we're here to be tested. Perhaps he'd observe that the more difficult the test, the greater compliment that test is from its Giver.

It's hard for all of us to stand by, feeling largely helpless. I can do a few things, though. One of those is to include Randy and you in my prayers. I do and I will. Another is to remind you of what you already know: Our Savior is keenly aware of Randy's--and your--circumstance on a day-by-day, minute-by-minute basis. He cares very much about you. The matter is in His hands, after all we can do, and ultimately all will be well, however this goes. (Let me encourage you to spend a minute re-reading Hymns, p 124.)

Be well. Be encouraged. Be joyful for the perspective we have about mortality, the purpose of our being here, and the power of the Savior's influence and atonement in our lives. He loves you and Randy very much. "Thy best, thy heavenly friend thru thorny ways leads to a joyful end."

    Greg
